My degree from Edinburgh University was in English with Mediaeval Studies. This included a year of archaeology and Scottish
History and even a little Old Norse - all ideal for guiding in Orkney with its viking history and some of the best archaeology in Britain.
When based in Edinburgh my guiding work took me all over Scotland. Now living in Orkney I
can indulge my passions for history and archaeology, and my past experiences help to place Orkney in its wider context of Scotland and the world.
But my tours are not just about history - there is a mix of folklore, landscape, wild life and what it is
like living in Orkney today - all leavened with a bit of humour. Orkney is a brilliant place to live and I hope to show you just why I this is so.
